Looking For a FREE Group Outing?
Experience Shakespeare in the parks together—for free!

Looking for a fun, meaningful, and FREE group outing in New York City? Bring your group to New York Classical Theatre’s all-free outdoor production of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar from June 2–July 5 in Central Park, Carl Schurz Park, and The Battery!

Groups of all kinds are welcome, including book clubs, schools, senior groups, community organizations, social services groups, corporate teams, faith groups, and groups of friends.

Our production of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is staged in our signature Panoramic Theatre style. This means there is no fixed stage—the play moves through the park, and the audience follows. It’s an active, immersive journey that turns a play into a shared adventure. Walking from scene-to-scene provides the perfect natural breaks to chat, bond, and experience the story together!

  • We believe great theatre should have no barriers.

    • Zero Cost: No tickets to buy, no invoices to manage, and no budget required.

    • No Paperwork: You don't need a "group contract." Just bring your people.

    • Total Flexibility: Whether your group is 5 people or 250 people, everyone is welcome.

  • Our audience is a beautiful cross-section of the city. We regularly host:

    • Social & Hobby Clubs: Book clubs, ladies' nights, and neighborhood groups.

    • Service & Community: Social service agencies, shelters, and community centers.

    • Faith & Fellowship: Congregations, youth groups, and faith-based organizations.

    • Teams & Classes: Corporate outings, school groups, and university students.

  • Bringing a group is entirely free—no tickets to buy, no budget to approve, and no paperwork to sign.

    1. Reserve Your Spots: Register for your preferred date, using our regular reservation system and your group leader as the main contact.

    2. Tell Us You’re Coming: Click here to fill out a quick form so we can help you coordinate your visit!

    • Make it a Picnic: We highly encourage groups to arrive early and eat together. We can suggest the best spots near the starting point!

    • Bring Your Own Seating: While most people just sit on the grass, lawn chairs and blankets are all welcome! Since we move through the park, lightweight chairs are the way to go.

    • Group Perks: When you let us know you're coming, we can provide discussion guides (perfect for book clubs or classrooms) and, when possible, a personal welcome from our staff to orient your guests.

    • Accessibility: If your group includes strollers, wheelchairs, or guests with mobility needs, let us know in the form so we can help you navigate the park routes.

  • Is it really a free group activity? Yes. From community centers and shelters to corporate offices and social clubs, the price of admission is always $0.

How do we sit together? There are no "seats" to assign! Because the audience moves, your group can walk and stand together at every scene. It is the most social way to experience a play in NYC.

What happens if it rains? We monitor the weather closely to ensure a safe experience. If we cancel, we notify all group leaders via email and text and update our website one hour before showtime.

Can our group volunteer? Yes! We love it when community or corporate groups want to give back. Check the box in our group form to learn more.
