Colin's Birthday — NY Classical Theatre

COLIN IS 35!

October 25–27, 2026

Rather than throwing one giant party, I’m hoping to plan a few days full of things I love and spend them with people I love! Yes, throwing a birthday FESTIVAL (and building a webpage for it) is extra as hell, but look who we’re talking about. ;)

Come to one thing! Or more than one! Choose your own adventure!
(But seriously try to make at least one so I can see you.)

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25

11AM — Church at Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue

5th/53rd

Come to church with me and enjoy a spectacular service full of bells, smells, and the best choral/organ music in the country! It’s truly a stunning service. The mass setting is Duruflé’s Messe Cum jubilo (yes you read that right) plus music by Cochereau (a BADASS French composer) and Henri Mulet’s famous Carillon Sortie. (Dress: Whatever you normally wear to church / whatever you want)

1PM — LUNCH at Joe’s Dumpling House

7 E. 48th St (Between 5th & Madison)

Best soup dumplings and sesame chicken in NYC. Come to church and walk over with us, or just meet us for lunch

POST LUNCH ?????

We have a few hours between lunch and the show. Meeting? Museum? Park? Shopping? Pitch me!

7PM — SLAM FRANK

Orpheum Theatre - 126 Second Avenue

My good friend Sam LaFrage directs this completely unhinged musical, which is the primary reason we’re seeing it for my birthday.
(I am also technically Jewish, which makes this culturally enriching.)

Runtime: 1 hour 50 minutes, no intermission
Tickets: $60 - I have 6 extra tickets. First come, first served.

~9PM — SUNDAES & CONES

95 E. 10th Street
Post-show ice cream!!!!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 26

8AM — CHELSEA MORNINGS OPEN AA MEETING

St. Paul’s German Evangelical Church - 315 W. 22nd Street

For anyone who wants to start Monday morning with me! This is an open AA meeting - everyone is welcome (including non-alcoholics!) And AA is the best show in town, in my opinion. ;)

7PM — NEW VISIONS: BESHERT a new play by Daniel Kushner

ART/NY South Oxford Space - 138 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn - FREE!

Beshert by Daniel Kushner is a new play being developed through New Visions, NY Classical’s (where I’m the Director of Development and Communications) play-development initiative. We’re presenting a free public reading at South Oxford House.

About the play: 1929, Lower East Side. Two men—a Jewish tailor and a Syrian immigrant—run a thriving dry cleaning business while hiding their forbidden romance. But when immigration raids and neighborhood betrayals threaten to expose their secrets, the life they’ve built together suddenly begins to unravel. Beshert is a comedic, high-stakes romantic drama about fate, sacrifice, and the search for belonging in a system designed to erase you.

~9PM — LATE BITE

After the reading, whoever’s still around can walk over for a drink/snack at Petit Paulette or Walter’s is nearby and has real food.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27 - ACTUAL BIRTHDAY!

8:30/9AM — MOVE + MEDITATE + SMOOTHIES

My apartment! The Astelle - 286 Rider Ave, The Bronx (I promise it’s easy and quick to get to)

Luke’s Lobster - 242 E 81st St.

2PM — THE GUGGENHEIM

4–6PM — CENTRAL PARK

Fingers crossed for a beautiful late-October New York afternoons! Depending on the crew, we can go for a walk, find a pretty place to sit, have cider/donuts, maybe meditate or journal, do a little photo shoot, or just chill.
